Villa il Boscarello - Trequanda - Siena "Hoc praedium restauratum fuit A:D. 1802"--(this building was restored in 1802)--is written on the Villa Boscarello's façade--with its two levels of four brick arches.. Dating back to the 17th century, Il Boscarello was a stopover place for travellers en route to nearby Montaceto, with its lovely spring.
The Villa is located on the large "La Selva" estate in th heart of the Crete Senese (the Sienese Clay area) is 35 kms. south of Siena. This ancient property belongs to the noble Socini family--descending from the Sozzo dynasty ( 14th century) whose name was changed into Sozzini and finally Socini( rich bankers,notaries and theologians in the 16th and 17th century). The Socino grandson, Duccio with his wife Daniela, undertook the restoration of the building and they personally run the agricultural and villa facilities.
Il Boscarello is a perfect starting point for visits to almost all of Central Tuscany--Pienza, Monelpulciano, Siena,San Gimignano,Montalcino and Cortona) --and half an hour from the lovely Chianti Classico wine region. Nearest airport is Firenze-Peretola, an hour and a half away from this exquisitely restored Villa.
